Today in grade 4 we gained a new friend! Her name is Lily. She is our resident frog. We took a vote to decide on her name. She is our classroom guardian, looking out for us. Students will be helping to care for her throughout the year.
We had the opportunity to use technology as well - horray! Students have written poems about themselves and had the chance to type them in word. It is a learning curve to log in and learn to use Microsoft word. We will get much better as time goes on. We also continued learning about when to use capitals and punctuation in our writing. It will be part of the self and peer editing process this year. In science, we discovered that the flowers absorbed water more quickly than celery. Our conclusion was that perhaps they have more capillaries or are more effective at using water. Counting on both forward and backward continues to be an important skill in math. Please continue to practice basic facts with your child every day. Miss N taught us yet another new game! The game was called "Tails". Each student had two pinnies in their pockets. Students tried to take the pinnies away from each other until there was an ultimate winner. Ask your child for more details. We continue to be kind friends to each other. We had one small accident in the gym but worked together to make sure everyone was safe and that the person who was hurt was okay. We're all alright :) In music we are learning the Star Wars song with boomwackers! Reminder: Don't forget your choir forms.
