This morning for 'Eye Opener' we learned about how to relate fractions to decimals and how to decimals to fractions. Please practice this at home with your child. One example would be 0.35 is the same as thirty five-hundredths. We learned about two more 3-Dimensional shapes. Students drew triangular prisms and tetrahedrons :) Three dimensional shapes have vertices (points), faces and edges. Look for some real life examples in your home. In writing we continued to look at our superhero stories, connected to our legacy projects. Mrs. Otterson read several different story beginnings that showed us how to use 1) dialogue, 2) action, 3) sound effect and 4) narration (thoughts and questions). Students shared some of the great beginnings and tomorrow we will move along to look at how to build up to our problem. Students practiced looking at fractions and decimals in the hundredths. Ask your child to describe place value now that they know tenths and hundredths. Here are some some examples of the questions we looked at. In the gym, we played "Temple Run". Students have to dodge and run to collect treasures without being hit by a ball.
Lastly, in science we focused on how light travels through different types of objects. Some new vocabulary we now know: translucent, transparent, and opaque. As a school we have already raised over $300 toward building a well in Africa. Keep the generosity coming! *Tomorrow is Walking Wednesday and Waste-Free Lunch* Reminders: June 14 - School Council Meeting June 15 - Fun Lunch & Family Dance June 28 - Last Day of School
