![]() This morning students looked at ordering fractions and how fractions are related to money. They had to complete the following questions:
We have also been sketching different 3-Dimensional shapes. Looking at the number of points (verticies), edges and faces each shape has. Students even began making connections to some of the shapes around our classroom, pointing out a pencil sharpener and a glue stick are cylinders. In writing, we began looking at fictional story writing, creating a superhero story based on the topic we used for our Legacy Projects. Students looked at the different elements of story writing, creating heroes, villains, etc. They worked with their classmates and the teacher to help brainstorm interesting settings, problems, powers/abilities, while beginning a rough draft sketch of their hero or villain would look like. As part of science we began exploring sources of light. There was discussion how sunlight, electricity and fire all produce heat. Luminescent light has no heat source and we looked at several amazing sea creatures that make their own light!! We also had some grade three friends come for a visit to tell us about the project they have been working on around clean drinking water. In an effort to build a well in Africa they are asking students to bring donations. More information can be found below: Every Drop Counts for Sports Day The Grade 3’s have been learning about water issues around the world and when they heard about kids in Africa having to walk for 6 hours a day to collect water for their families, they decided they needed to take action.
